Friend: I bought an oxygen concentrator in case of a family emergency. Can you send them a valid prescription?
Dr. Why: What exactly did you buy? What emergency? I know you are thinking the “virus”. If one has difficulty breathing, the next best step is to call 911! Oxygenators are for use by people with chronic lung disease, not acute viral or bacterial pneumonia. At least, you did not buy a gun as one of my friends did (one for himself, one for his wife). He is prepared now! No further comment!
I imagine this guys are doing a great business selling stuff to public but this is totally inappropriate. I would say that this is a scam!
Friend: I don’t know what to say, I have three friends who bought these. There even is a local store.
Dr. Why: This is a scam, which is thriving on fear.
Friend: They just gave me a refund. Thanks for the advice.
