Is “curve” flattening”? Or even going down?
The number of reported deaths from coronavirus in Italy appears to be decreasing for two days in the row:
Friday, the 20th of March 2020 - 627 died
Saturday, the 21st of March 2020 - 793 died (the highest reported)
Sunday, the 22nd of March 2020 - 651 died
Monday, the 23rd of March of 2020 - 602 died
It might be a wishful thinking but to me 602 < 651, and 651 < 793, does everyone agree?
The Reuters choses to report it in a different way, although: “Italy coronavirus deaths rise by 602 in a day, lifting the death toll to 6,078”

Questions:
Are they careful (conservative) not to give too much hope when many say (including the POTUS and the Surgeon General) it is going to get worse?
Can it be an editorial oversight
Do bad news sell better than good news?
Do they manipulate public by playing on fear while counting on public’s inability to compare numbers?
Or, the reporter did not make it past the 1st grade math?
